One Should Quit Alcohol - Even If Not For Allah’s Sake

(Al-Khisal by Shaykh al-Saduq [1])

“O Ali, whomever quits alcohol for a purpose other than the sake of Allah - Allah will serve him from the purified wine of heaven.’

Ali asked: ‘Even if he does it for a purpose other than the sake of Allah?’

The Prophet said: ‘Yes - by Allah, as long as he does it to fix / protect himself, Allah will thank him for it’.
