Sayyid Ibn Tawus on the return of Husayn’s head on Arba’een

Chapter: In what we mention from the answer to what appeared in the fact that the return of the head of our Master Al-Husayn, peace be upon him, was on the 20th of Safar. 

Know that the return of the holy head of our Master Al-Husayn, may God bless him and grant him peace, to his honorable body was witnessed by the tongue of the great and noble Qur’an, where God Almighty said: “And do not think that those who were killed in the cause of God are dead, rather they are alive with their Lord, provided with sustenance”. 

Can doubt still remain, even after Allah said that whomever is martyred is alive with his Lord - protected and receiving sustenance?

As for how he was revived after his testimony, and how his honorable head was gathered to his body after his separation:

This is a question arises from bad manners on the part of the servant, for him to assume God Almighty must to make it known how He manages his capabilities, and it is ignorance on the part of the servant to enquire about what he was not required to know about nor ask about its attributes.

As for ascetaining the return (of the head of Husayn) on the fortieth day of his killing, and the time when Husayn, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, was killed - the (killing) was when Islam was upturned and the truth was defeated. Thus, the return of the head could not have been done through normal circumstances of dunya.

Rather, the (return) was done through divine power, and there are about ten and different narrations in the hadith of the honorable head, all of which are transmitted.”

فصل (4) فيما نذكره من الجواب عما ظهر في أن رد رأس مولانا الحسين عليه السلام كان يوم العشرين من صفر اعلم أن إعادة رأس مقدسمولانا الحسين صلوات الله عليه إلى جسده الشريف

شهد به لسان القرآن العظيم المنيف، حيث قال الله جل جلاله﴿ولا تحسبن الذين قتلوا في سبيل الله أمواتا بل احياء عند ربهم يرزقون﴾ (1)،فهل بقي شك حيث أخبر الله انه من حيث استشهد حي عند ربه مرزوق مصون، فلا ينبغي ان يشك في هذا العارفون.

واما كيفية احيائه بعد شهادته وكيفية جمع رأسه الشريف إلى جسده بعد مفارقته:

فهذا سؤال يكون فيه سوء أدب من العبد على الله جل جلاله ان يعرفه كيفية تدبير مقدوراته، وهو جهل من العبد واقدام ما لم يكلف العلم به ولاالسؤال عن صفاته.

واما تعيين الإعادة يوم الأربعين من قتله، والوقت الذي قتل فيه الحسين صلوات الله وسلامه عليه، ونقله الله جل جلاله إلى شرف فضله كانالاسلام مقلوبا والحق مغلوبا، وما تكون الإعادة بأمور دنيوية.

والظاهر أنها بقدرة الإلهية (2)، لكن وجدت نحو عشر وروايات مختلفات في حديث الرأس الشريف كلها منقولات.
